A range of organisations work to support people back into employment and a particular focus is those people who are on incapacity benefit and have been out of employment for long periods; lone parents; young people who are not in education or employment.
The support from employers is invaluable and can include offering assistance in interview practice, CV preparation, work placements, personal mentoring, training, and jobs/work trials.
Armley Prison accommodates 1,000 offenders and acts as a holding prison for the courts in Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees for people on remand awaiting trial and those serving sentences. Employment and training opportunities for ex-offenders has a significant impact on preventing re-offending behaviour. Employers can help in a range of ways to assist in reducing the re-offending rate by giving ex-offenders opportunities such as; work trails, interview practice, training , mentoring, attending Jobs and Training fairs within the prison.
