Following the success of the Armley Jobs Fair that was co-ordinated by Leeds Ahead in March 2008, the second of what will now be six monthly job fairs took place on 17th September 2008. Now bigger and better, the event was moved from the multi-faith chapel to the gym in order to hold the growing number of organisations that support offenders .
Attended by 205 inmates from various wings of the prison the event provided an opportunity for inmates to see what support is available both inside and outside the prison to help them back into work, training or self-employment. It was also an opportunity for inmates to speak to a number of businesses and employers who are open in their employment of ex-offenders. Leeds Ahead will continue to support the HMPS Armley Jobs Fairs.
We encourage all our members to sign the Out of Armley - Employers Pledge and do something to help ex-offenders get back into employment.
