  • Monday 8 March 2010 was the 99th International Women's Day, a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women. Thousands of events were held around the world to mark the day.

    Leeds Ahead organised for designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists firm Arup to host a lunchtime event. Pupils were invited from Leeds College of Building and David Young Academy to enjoy a presentation from CEO of Marketing Leeds, Deborah Green, on her personal experiences and the challenges she has faced as a woman moving up the ranks in marketing. There was also a presentation by Senior Arup engineer Katy Roelich who spoke about her journey into work and gave an invaluable insight into working as a woman in the construction industry.
