  • Leeds City Council will be launching the Leeds Year of the Volunteer on 13th January. This will be a major new initiative to strengthen and co-ordinate all volunteering activities across the city as well as a chance to promote the benefits of volunteering to a much wider audience and an opportunity to encourage more people to get involved with volunteering. Leeds City Council will be launching the event in the morning and the event can be accessed on our website by the following link.

Leeds Ahead is proud to have been appointed as the Council’s partner on the 2010 Leeds Year of the Volunteer initiative and we would like to take this opportunity to invite our members to participate in shaping what we deliver. Leeds Ahead will have the lead role on encouraging more employer-sponsored volunteering within the public and the private sectors. All volunteering carried out by Leeds Ahead members during 2010 will be attributed to the initiative. There will be enhanced PR opportunities throughout the year and we are planning an events programme that will provide platform and advocacy opportunities for all our existing members. Our members will be critical to the success of the corporate volunteering aspects of the initiative.

On the evening of 13th January Leeds Ahead will be holding an event for our members to set out our intentions for the coming year together with celebrating the significant achievements already made in recent years which has culminated in the award of the green flag, a formal recognition of the contribution made by Leeds City Council and Leeds Ahead. This launch will give us the opportunity to brief our members on the programme, canvass your views and update you on other significant developments at Leeds Ahead.
