  • Shoppers in Armley and Pudsey are being rewarded for staying local thanks to a new reward card scheme.

The ‘Shop Local’ reward card is a first for both towns and is designed to encourage more shoppers to use local retailers, helping traders in West Leeds fight the economic downturn.

More than 60 small businesses in Armley and Pudsey have signed up to the scheme so far.

The idea is the latest in a series of promotions for the areas ‘Shop Local Campaign’ to get locals flocking back to their local shops.

Shoppers collect six stamps from six different retailers over a month to be entered into a prize draw. Each month the winner will receive £50 of vouchers to spend at participating shops in the local area.

Nigel Conder, employed by Leeds Ahead as town centre manager for Armley and Pudsey, who is spearheading the project, said

“The reward scheme will be a great tool for these businesses to demonstrate what both these towns have to offer. It is a one of a kind scheme which will encourage more people to use our excellent local retailers and in doing so, boost the local economy.”

Many thanks to Eversheds solicitors for providing legal advice on the scheme.
