Lyndsay Din Photography was set up late last year with support from the Leeds Sharing the Success Local Enterprise Growth Initiative programme. As a new business start up Lyndsay now works from the Shine Catalyst Centre based in Harehills.

Lyndsay wanted a mentor to help develop her understanding of marketing and to learn from someone who has the experience of setting up a successful business themselves. Leeds Ahead organised for Paul Whitaker, who runs the marketing business Whitaker Partnership, to become her mentor in February this year.

Paul and Lyndsay are both benefitting from their continuing mentoring relationship. Paul is gaining a sense of achievement that his help is motivating and encouraging Lyndsay to build her business and Lyndsay has developed her understanding of marketing, been introduced to a number of Paul’s contacts and has worked on two jobs for Paul, with the possibility of more work coming up.

The support that Lyndsay has received has broadened her horizons and helped her explore different areas of photography that she had not considered before. Paul has helped Lyndsay expand her knowledge by setting her goals, asking questions, providing research materials and allowing Lyndsay access to his business resources.

Leeds Ahead will continue to monitor and evaluate the impact that this relationship is having for both Din Photography and Whitaker Partnership as their mentoring relasionship develops.
