The Little London area, on the rim of the city has a major PFI plan in place for the area with the creation of mixed private and social housing and community facilities. Work is due to start in 2009, with completion by 2015.
Armley Town centre has a Board, The West Leeds Gateway, which comprises business and community representatives who are helping to drive forward a range of regeneration activities and improvements in and around the town centre of Armley. Work is due to start in 2008 with completion by 2011.
Leeds City Council and Bradford Metropolitan District Council are working together to open up the opportunities for business along the corridor between East Bradford and West Leeds. This is an exciting initiative which will enable more inward investment and trade, increase job opportunities and allow the two cities to share their success and cultural diversity.
Leeds Ahead currently employs a Town Centre Manager who is working with local businesses in Armley and Pudsey to help regenerate these town centres. The Town Centre manager works out of the local authority's area management office in West Leeds and the agenda is steered by local businesses, partners and elected members.
Local Business Forums have been set up in both areas to enable effective communication between local businesses and local strategic partners on issues of mutual interest, such as crime against business, environmental concerns and major infrastructure improvements.
