Steve Williamson has been Chief Executive of re'new since 2001. re'new is an organisation which runs a number of innovative regeneration projects in Leeds and brings together social housing partners' contribution to regeneration.
He started his career at Riverside Housing Association in Liverpool in 1974 where he qualified as a professional member of the Institute of Housing. In 1987, he became Chief Executive of The Ridings Housing Association, a Leeds based housing association and was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Leeds Partnership Homes (LPH) - the largest joint venture of its kind (and the first) in the country. This led to a transfer of £33 million worth of land from Leeds City Council and the creation of over 4000 homes throughout Leeds.
Among other responsibilities Steve is Chair of the Narrowing the Gap Executive of the Leeds Initiative, Leeds Housing Partnership and is an active member of a number of boards including Safer Leeds Executive, Aire Valley Regeneration Board and Holbeck Urban Village Stakeholders Board.
